Sachin clinically demolished Pakistan's bowling in Mohali but as soon as he got in the 90s there was a buzz in the common room of my hostel, will he get a century this time? 10 bucks say he won't. As it turned out I should have gotten in on that bet because rest assured a panic attack struck Sachin at 99 and he prodded Umar Gul's routine delivery to a very grateful Kamran Akmal.
His 90s jinx has been especially apparent in One Day Internationals this year. His last ODI ton came against the West Indies in January 2007 and in the 26 games since then Sachin has managed 11 fifties and an excellent average of 44.9. Of these 11 fifties, 5 have been 90s including 3 99s(thats also a record: only player to be dismissed for 99 thrice in ODIs). 26 games without a triple figure score is also his third most barren spell. So whats wrong? Has the Master Blaster become the Master Choker or has he been having really bad luck. Its really a combination of the two, his nervousness in the 90s and some terrible decisions by the umpires.
Here is something you might not have noticed: had Sachin converted his every 90 into a century he would have been the first ever cricketer to score one hundred centuries (37+41+22=100) in international cricket!
If these keeps up “Nervous 90s” may be renamed “Tendulkar 90s”. Come on Sachin score a century and shut me up!
Sachin’s ODI 90s in 2007
99 v SA in Ire at Belfast
93 v SA in Ire at Belfast
99 v Eng in Eng at Bristol
94 v Eng in Eng at The Oval
99 v Pak in Ind at Mohali

Haha....A post on cricket? The sun will rise in the west next. It is just somewhat of a coincidence. It must also be kept in mind the amount of cricket that Sachin has played and hence this 'jinx' shouldn't really be looked at with any seriousness.
Clever Title
I dnt care f he dosnt scre 100s as lng as he scors runs.
i m a gr8 fan of sachin and dont knw how to react these jinx. he's playing splendidly bt d same time couldnt get deserved 100. however, i m so happy coz he's in a gr8 form again(last time in 2003). 100 doesnt matter anymore.....consistency matters.
Once again that's Manish Chhajer not Kaifu.
cricket really isn't my thing but even i get that its odd. he gets to 90 so comfortably then struggles to get a few more. just a mental block he'll get over it
of all things, plz dont call him choker. these things do happen and so far as he is playing the kind of cricket that he is centuries just dont matter
It seems some of you are interpreting this post too harshly. I am not criticizing Sachin, I am just surprised at his ability to get a 90 with ease and then struggle to get another 10.
There shouldn't be any nervousness for him about getting a century, he has made so many before, yet to get out thrice for 99 in the same year is odd.Isn't it?
im a great follower of sachin's brilliance and extraordinary capabilities of the bat from very long back since the early 90's.....so as far as my experience suggests, its just a coincidence of 90's dat wud attract statistician world over, nothing more dan that....its just a matter of time when he adds another great century to his never ending record book.....
at least ,kaifu's heart believes like dat....
